Destination Overview

When you think of New York, The Big Apple may be the first thing that comes to mind. But even beyond New York City, New York is a state rich with American history, modern mystery and breathtaking natural scenery galore. It’s a romantic paradise with something for every couple to choose from.

There’s the gorgeous Hudson Valley, named a top 20 “Must See Place in 2013″ by National Geographic Traveler for its historic homesteads, mountain views and riverside communities. Names like George Washington, Franklin D. Roosevelt, and Robert E. Lee all contribute to this region’s rich history.

And then there’s Niagara Falls! Slicing across the US-Canada border, the falls are an ancient natural wonder with waters roaring at the the highest flow rate of any waterfall in America. The raw power leaves viewers in awe, and at night colored lights illuminate the waters for a dazzling display of color. In the winter the frozen waters add a new element to the show – a beautiful dance of lights and ice.

There are few things as romantic than wine, and New York is a wine lover’s Garden of Eden. From the beautiful Finger Lakes region to Long Island and just about everywhere in between, there’s a “wine country” tucked into nearly every section of New York State. Wine-loving couples rejoice…in New York winery tours, local tastings and rolling vineyards are hardly ever very far away.
