Known for its picture-perfect beaches, pineapple plantations and lush landscape, Mo’orea is the perfect island getaway for your honeymoon. Located in French Polynesia just ten miles northwest of Tahiti, Mo’orea is a small island with big charm.

A visit to any island in Tahiti wouldn’t be complete without paying homage to its diverse coral reefs. Snorkeling or scuba diving are popular ways to spot fish, rays, turtles and sharks but another option (for those who prefer to stay dry) to enjoy the undersea landscape is from a glass-bottomed kayak or boat.

If you and your partner enjoy an active lifestyle, you can certainly find plenty of activities to suit your needs in Mo’orea. Hike, drive, e-bike or ATV to Belvedere Lookout for some of the best views of the island. The lookout offers sweeping panoramic views of the Opunohu Valley and Cook and Opunohu Bays.   • Located only ten nautical miles from Tahiti, Moorea is easily accessible by ferry or plane from Papeete.
  • To get to Mo’orea, most travelers fly into Bora Bora Airport also known as Motu Mute Airport (BOB). If you’re coming from the U.S., you’ll first stop at the Faa’a International Airport in Tahiti. From Tahiti, you can take a ferry to Mo’orea which takes about 30 minutes.
  • We recommend staying on the Northern shore of Mo’orea between the villages of Hauru and Tema’e.. The northern shore is home to the island’s most dramatic landscapes such as Mount Rotui, Opunohu Bay and Cook’s Bay.
  • Mo’orea uses the French Pacific Franc as its currency. The US dollar may be accepted as direct payment in hotels, restaurants and large shops, but will get a low rate of exchange. There are a few ATMs on the islands but it is best to bring some local currency with you.
  • The best time to visit Mo’orea is between May and October. Although the temperatures are balmy year-round, Mo’orea’s winter season enjoys less humidity.
  • Its highest peak is Mount Tohivea, at 3,960 feet (1,207 metres).
  • Mo’orea is about 10 miles in width.
